Some Time Away

So after the Switch on in Blackpool it was then off to Lisbon, flying from John Lennon airport, I always get lost travelling there but all good and driving in Lisbon a city I have been to before and is just such an amazing place.

The Hotel was really a large apartment in the centre of town and half way up on of the seven hills in the city.

Art Hotel is cool, great hosts, nice idea and common areas, bit like being a student again, but just tell me of any accommodation in a city which you would get for £35 B&B…..

Venturing out after arriving then its off to market, well actually an old market which was bought by ‘Time Out’ and they asked numerous top chefs to create fast food in this environment. Food and atmosphere really good value.. salmon and cuttle fish burger in an ink coloured bum…. and pigs cheeks, cabbage and mashed potato.. and of course Vino Verde…. Lisbon we had arrived.

Second day spent the morning searching for a market which was poor and then afternoon to the beach a short train ride from the city centre.

Third day Cintra.. beautiful world heritage site and then…. Casa in town the cheapest and well hidden place in Lisbon.. Jug of wine, salad, bread and a selection of cheeses.. all for 17 Euros…. bargain…

then off to ‘The Park’ which is a bar on the roof of a multi storey car park….. and you think where the hell are you going.. great views from the roof and lots of foliage….

Last day met the legendary ‘Smile’ at his football club.. Sporting Portugal Stadium….. he showed some amazing Graff on the Blue wall…then off to Vhils Gallery….. afterwards a trip back to Casa… and then home following day..

Trip brilliant, People so lovely and of course very very good value…..

Lisbon is just so special.. I am going back for sure…..
